PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITY

The Physician Assistant's primary responsibility is to provide comprehensive primary care services to FHC patients under physician supervision. Job performance is evaluated through direct observation, consultation, and documentation.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities
  • Access & Quality
  • Provide or coordinate comprehensive primary care services, including lab work, diagnostics, and specialty referrals, with physician supervision.
  • Work independently using professional judgment within scope of practice, collaborating with other healthcare providers in a team environment.
  • Perform minor outpatient procedures as per credentialing policies.
  • Coordinate patient care with physicians, specialists, pharmacists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Assess patient needs, arrange referrals, diagnostics, inpatient care, and document accurately and timely.
  • Educate patients and families on health maintenance, disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up, ensuring understanding.
  • Deliver care in accordance with FHC standards, community care standards, legal requirements, and anti-discrimination laws.
  • Supervise and train ancillary staff to ensure quality care, in coordination with management and nursing staff.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities, audits, and committee work.
  • Maintain necessary credentials, including licensure, certification, and CME.
  • Attend staff and provider meetings, and participate in committees or task forces as directed.
  • Develop and maintain a practice plan compliant with Washington State PA licensure requirements.
  • Advocacy
    • Treat all patients with dignity and respect.
    • Provide excellent customer service.
    • Conform to JCAHO and HIPAA regulations.
    • Ensure PHI (Protected Health Information) compliance.
    Qualifications
    • Graduate from an accredited physician assistant program.
    • Certification as a physician assistant by NCCPA.
