Role Overview
Reporting to a Multi-Site Controller
, this position serves as the primary accounting and cost representative at the plant. You will own inventory controls, standard costing, and manufacturing variance analysis while partnering closely with operations to ensure accurate financial reporting and better business decisions.

Key Responsibilities
Cost Accounting & Inventory Control
- Establish, review, and audit controls over purchasing, receiving, production, and inventory transactions
- Ensure accuracy of inventory movements and cycle count processes
- Review Bills of Materials (BOMs) and maintain accurate standard costs
- Roll and update standard costs for manufactured products
Manufacturing & Variance Analysis
- Analyze manufacturing, purchasing, and absorption variances (MUV, PPV, labor, and overhead)
- Prepare monthly journal entries related to inventory, production, and overhead
- Review plant overhead and reclass expenses as needed
- Model product and material costs to support forecasting
Forecasting, Budgeting & Reporting
- Support weekly forecasts, including standard-to-actual analysis
- Assist with annual budgets, including fixed and variable overhead
- Prepare cost estimates and efficiency metrics using production data
- Perform ad hoc cost and profitability analyses for new and existing products
Business Partnership & Communication
- Serve as the lead finance contact at the plant, working with leadership and shop-floor teams
- Partner with Marketing and Operations by providing product cost studies
- Present financial results and insights to various levels of the organization
- Collaborate with Corporate Accounting and other plant finance teams
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
- 3+ years of accounting experience required
- Manufacturing or cost accounting experience preferred, but not required
- Strong analytical skills and interest in learning manufacturing operations
- ERP experience preferred (JD Edwards or similar)
- Advanced Excel skills and strong communication abilities
