Goosefoot is hiring a full-time, full-charge bookkeeper, who is comfortable dealing with complex financial data. (
* Note that Goosefoot distinguishes between a regular bookkeeper and a “full charge” bookkeeper because the latter has additional and higher-level responsibilities and autonomy). Under direction by the Finance Director, the full-charge bookkeeper will help Goosefoot in recording and maintaining all financial transactions, performing reconciliations, running payroll, collecting debts, making payments, and assisting the Finance Director in preparing financial statements and closing books.
Goosefoot:
Goosefoot Community Fund was established as a nonprofit in 1999, when co-founder Nancy Nordhoff purchased the Bayview Cash Store in order to support historic preservation, bolster the local economy, address community needs, and nurture a sense of place and community. Over the past two and a half decades, Goosefoot has grown into a complex enterprise with three affiliated entities, including the Goose Community Grocer, Bayview Center, and Bayview Corner.
Goosefoot also currently serves as the fiscal agent for Island Roots Housing, which was incubated by Goosefoot and is now a separate nonprofit.
Goosefoot provides funding and programmatic support to nonprofits whose missions express the organization’s charitable purposes in a variety of ways. The organization also offers free programs to support the business and artistic communities, works closely with the managers of The Goose to promote sales and outreach to the community, and serves as the landlord to almost 20 tenants in both Bayview Corner and Bayview Center.
In 2023, the IRS designated Goosefoot as Type 1 Supporting Organization, a specific category of public charities, because of Goosefoot’s unusual nonprofit-for profit business model.
Goosefoot currently has 10 employees, whose responsibilities include administration, finance, programs, and communications.
