Duties
* You will provide and manage the identification, evaluation, and resolution of waterfront technical problems in the electrical discipline.
* You will provide waterfront engineering services to support ongoing refit depot and intermediate maintenance repair work.
* You will provide technical and engineering reviews regarding quality and applicability of production deliverables.
* You will evaluate perceived TRIDENT submarine design deficiencies to determine if the source of deficient conditions may result from inadequate Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) and propose and initiate corrective actions as appropriate.
* You will review proposed design modifications to existing TRIDENT submarines systems and equipment with a view toward alleviating potential problems by influencing the hardware design.
* You will monitor and identify design deficiencies from various sources and propose appropriate corrective actions to cognizant technical agents in conjunction with the requisite ILS impact assessments which will result from the proposed actions.
* You will act as liaison between TRIREFFAC, SUBASE, SWFPAC, NAVSEA, COMSUBPAC, COMSUBRON 17, SUBMEPP, Planning Yard Design Agent, etc.
* You will participate in ongoing NAVSEA RD efforts in the electrical engineering field, providing input and recommendations relevant to life cycle maintenance and repair of TRIDENT submarines.
* You will apply expert knowledge of shipbuilding/repair methods, principles and practices for electrical systems as utilized at the intermediate maintenance activity/shipyard level, including engineering standards and acceptance criteria.
* You will apply a high degree of initiative, judgment, and resourcefulness in the organization, management, and coordination of activities concerned with scheduling and performing nuclear submarine (SSBN) refits and industrial repairs.
* You will be responsible for engineering and management assignments including analyzing proposed engineering changes, evaluating design deficiencies and proposing engineering changes in conjunction with developing the requisite ILS impact assessments.
* You will apply technical analysis and problem solving in the Waterfront Engineering Support Branch impacting timely completion of waterfront repairs and maintenance actions, quality assurance reviews, and TRIPER program asset certifications. Requirements Conditions of employment

* You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
* You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
* You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
* Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
* This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
* You will be required to perform occasional sea duty.
* The incumbent will be periodically exposed to all shipboard and industrial work site conditions such as noise, weather, heat dire, dust, grease, oil, caustics, sand blast grit, paint fumes, etc.
* You will need to be able to work onboard ships.
* You will need to be able to be capable of moving in and out of cramped and restricted spaces onboard submarines in order to visually inspect existing conditions.
