Job SummaryUnder the direction of the Maintenance Manager, the incumbent is responsible for leading all fixed and electrical maintenance activities at the Kettle River Operations (KRO) Mill. The role works closely with Mill Operations and corporate Global Maintenance Asset Management to ensure equipment availability, reliability, and safe, efficient production. This position requires strong technical and analytical expertise, leadership capability, and a collaborative approach that supports shared operational goals.
EssentialFunctions
- Lead all fixed plant mechanical and electrical maintenance activities at the KRO Mill.
- Partner with Mill Operations leadership to align maintenance priorities with production goals, planned shutdowns, and mill operating strategies.
- Actively participate in daily, weekly, and monthly planning meetings with Operations to ensure coordinated execution.
- Build strong cross‑functional relationships to support timely resolution of equipment issues and minimize unplanned downtime.
- Develop and implement reliability‑centered maintenance (RCM) strategies to improve equipment performance and lifecycle.
- Oversee the planning, scheduling, and execution of preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance programs for all mill equipment.
- Collaborate with Operations to optimize maintenance windows, prioritize work orders, and lead shutdown planning.
- Ensure maintenance activities support safety, cost control, and stable mill performance.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the maintenance team; foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Maintain a safe and organized work environment through inspections, communication, and implementation of best practices.
- Ensure maintenance personnel follow safe work procedures and meet all regulatory and site requirements.
- Promote and maintain a culture where safety is the highest priority.
- Ensure compliance with Kinross HSE policies, Environmental Management Systems, and all applicable regulations.
- Participate in hazard assessments, JSAs, inspections, and incident investigations.
- Lead by example by following and enforcing safe work procedures.
- Ensure all employees are trained and competent in lockout/tagout, confined space, working at heights, electrical isolation, and other relevant procedures.
- Support environmental stewardship, including waste management, spill prevention, and regulatory compliance.
- Encourage open reporting of hazards and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Ensure proper PPE use and verify maintenance work areas meet HSE standards.
- Demonstrate proactive leadership in building a safe and environmentally responsible workplace.
- Review and approve requisitions for parts, materials, and services; ensure cost‑effective and accurate procurement.
- Manage inventory, including critical spares, to support operational reliability and reduce downtime risks.
- Oversee maintenance service contracts and ensure compliance with site expectations.
- Manage the maintenance budget, control expenditures, and implement cost‑reduction initiatives without compromising safety or reliability.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment performance, and associated costs.
- Collaborate with Operations on continuous improvement efforts that enhance reliability, throughput, and overall mill efficiency.
- Ensure maintenance systems, processes, and workforce competencies support restart efforts and ongoing operational readiness.
- Administer the maintenance job progression system with consistency and fairness.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- A bachelor’s degree of Mechanical, Electrical, or Mining Engineering preferred.
