Director of Engineering
Janicki Industries is an innovative, family‑owned aerospace company located at the foot of the Cascades. We focus on engineering and manufacturing complex projects for companies in the aerospace, defense, and space industries. This position is located on‑site in Hamilton, Washington State.
Position DescriptionThe Director of Engineering must leverage experience, knowledge, and expertise to provide leadership and vision to a team of design engineers and technicians to ensure Janicki has a flexible and diverse team capable of supporting a wide range of design and engineering projects. The Director develops individuals, teams, and company procedures to support continuous improvement and growth.
Key Responsibilities- Provides leadership and vision to the Design and Engineering team to inspire continuous improvement of products, processes, individuals, and teams.
- Ensures establishment, monitoring, and reporting of key metrics that support the vision for continuous improvement and growth.
- Maintains focus on employee communication, mentorship, growth, and morale.
- Ensures adherence to design process and workflow that support AS9100 requirements.
- Manages capacity planning, resources management, delegation, efficiency, and design schedule execution to support on‑time product delivery.
- Manages risk in delegation, design workflow, and offload management.
- Ensures effective stakeholder communication.
- Develops and maintains relationships with offload resources.
- Provides management support to lead designers for underperforming projects and offload resources.
- Delegates project assignments to Design manager, lead design engineers, and other staff.
- Promotes effective communication between the design and engineering team and customers.
- Ensures commitment to excellent customer service internally and externally.
- Ensures proper oversight and review of designs and engineering plans.
- Works well under pressure, meeting multiple deadlines; demonstrates cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors.
- Maintains good attendance; being on time is an essential function.
- US Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident (8 U.S.C. 1324b (a) (3)).
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). Janicki will assist with access once employed.
- Experience in a continuous evaluation program, Special Access Program, or other Government Access Requirements required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 7‑10+ years experience as a Program Manager, Senior Project Engineer, Senior Design Engineer, or equivalent.
- Strong communication skills in English (written, verbal, graphical).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, CATIA, and NX CAD software.
- Salary range $130,000 – $185,000 plus discretionary bonus, 401(k) matching, vacation, and health benefits.
