The library is where a lot of learning quietly happens. The school library is one of the few places where students move at a different pace. Some come to research, some to recharge, some because they need help finding their way through an assignment or a device that isn’t cooperating. Nine Mile Falls School District is seeking a Library Technician II at Lakeside High School who understands the importance of that space and takes pride in keeping it running well.

Overview

This role focuses on the daily work that makes the library usable and welcoming. This includes managing materials, supporting technology, helping students and staff access what they need, and keeping systems organized so learning can happen without friction. You’ll work closely with certificated staff and interact with students throughout the day. The Library Tech takes ownership of a shared space that depends on consistency and care.

It’s a steady role with real impact, especially for students who rely on the library as part of their school day.

Salary and Benefits

The Hourly Rate range for the position is:
Min.$19.25 - Max. $25.12. Salary placement will be at Step 1 of the Nine Mile Classified Public Employees Association Collective Bargaining Agreement unless documentation of experience is received per the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Each employee shall accumulate up to twelve (12) days of sick leave per year. An employee employed less than a full work year shall be entitled to a proportionate part of the sick leave allowance. A maximum of three (3) Annual Leave days are provided for all employees based on the employee’s scheduled employment hours per day.

Employees anticipated to work more than 630 hours per year will be eligible for Benefits through the School Employees Benefits Board (SEBB) Standard benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, and Long-Term Disability. Positions anticipated to work 70 hours or more per month for at least 5 months over a 12-month period are eligible for Retirement through the State Department of Retirement Services.

Schedule

6 hrs. per day (7:30 AM – 2:00 PM) 2025/2026 School Calendar. This position also receives 5 additional days to open and close the library. (6.5 hours to close out the library for the 25/26 school year)

Nature and Scope of Job

The secondary library tech will provide leadership, organization, and management of the library and will work with certificated staff to integrate the library into school curricular areas. This integration includes both printed resources along with technology integration and is responsible for the collection and management of resources, both text and digital. Manage school library web resources.

Primary Job Functions
  • Ensure access to a rich learning center that motivates students to be effective users of information.
  • Responsible to independently facilitate the acquisition, cataloging, processing, and maintenance of learning resource information.
  • Remove obsolete and unusable materials from the collection.
  • Maintain inventory and library schedules and manage library circulation and checkout.
  • Stay apprised of current technology in library media, utilize strategies that increase the use of the library facility.
  • Work with certificated staff to integrate the library into their curriculum.
  • Act as a conduit between the learning experiences students have in their classrooms and the resources the library has to enhance knowledge.
  • Read and be aware of current young adult literature.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the promotion of literacy and reading as a lifelong learning skill.
  • Assist with school-related activities carried out through the library space and technology.
  • Manage school Chromebook carts, and one-to-one distribution.
