Food Service personnel are responsible to the Director of Food and Nutrition Services, Food and Nutrition Services Field Supervisor, and the Kitchen Manager. The Cook Assistant makes a “School Meal Pattern” lunch available to every school child; assists in preparing and serving nutritious food as required by participation in the federal program; and provides sanitary working conditions.
$20.80- $25.33 Salary is based on the Food Service Salary Schedule; (subject to change) salary placement is based on experience and longevity and will be determined by Human Resources.
Employment QualificationsMust be neat, clean, alert, accurate, and have the ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, staff and students. Requires strong basic skills to accurately follow written instructions and utilize basic math calculations. Position requires stamina (standing long hours) and ability to consistently lift 30 pounds. Must be a good role model and enjoy working with children. Must have or obtain a Food Handler’s permit.
Specific qualifications are as follows:
- Ability to assist in preparation and service of all menu items for Breakfast and Lunch which is appealing and attractive to students
- Learn and become proficient in the operation of large equipment such as ovens, range, dishwasher, meat slicer, garbage disposal, steam-jacketed kettle, proofer, steamers, and mixer
- Be able to maintain a clean kitchen with sanitary working conditions
- Know and contribute to routine required by job service program and specific kitchen
- Perform all duties necessary to maintain a "School Meal Pattern" lunch
- Ability to communicate effective with administrators, co-workers, parents, students, and others as needed
191 to 193 days per year, 3.75 hours.
