POSITION: Special Eduction Director/Teacher
SALARY: $42.79 to $56.15 Per hour DOE Contract
REPORTS TO: Special Education Director
LOCATION: Paschal Sherman Indian School, Omak, WA
Basic FunctionsIncumbent works effectively with students who are academically, socially, and emotionally disabled, as well as parents, staff, and support personnel, to meet educational objectives and devise appropriate programs for each individual student under their care. The Special Education Director/Teacher is responsible for maintaining the learning environment in their classroom on a daily basis and requires flexibility and careful planning and coordination that is generally uncommon for most main-stream classrooms.
QualificationsMinimum Qualifications Education and Training
- Requires a current valid WA State Teaching Certificate, with special Education Endorsement.
- Typically requires MAin Special education
- Must obtain a First Aid/CPR certification within 30 days of hire.
- Requires a valid WA State Drivers' license.
- Pass Washington State Patrol, Federal Bureau of Investigation and Colville Tribal Criminal History Background Checks.
- Requires proof of degree/transcripts, certifications, and THREE written letters of reference along with application.
- Requiresknowledge in the instruction of the State Common Core Standards that is relevant to the content areas taught.
- Requires ability to develop policy and pocedures and implements program plans to meet requirements of providing a special Education Program and services to elegible students.
- Required to keep accurate records on student progress toward objectives/goals
- Requires knowledge in standard-based instruction and grading
- Requires demonstrated knowledge and skill to effectively instruct children
- Requires social skills necessary to effectively communicate with staff, students, parents, and the public.
- Requires skill and dedication necessary to participate in the development of a constantly improving program.
- Requires current knowledge in any given subject area.
- Requires current knowledge and use of appropriate instructional theory.
- Requires ability to maintain comprehensive in-class discipline program. given the exeptional nature of the students you must be able to deal with a wider range of nacceptable behaviors, within the confines of your prgram.
- Requires ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors and subordinates.
- Ability to plan, direct and teach an individualized instruction program.

Pursuant to Tribal Policy, if this position is safety sensitive it is subject to pre-employment drug testing. In addition, this position is subject to reasonable suspicion and post-accident drug testing.

If required of this position, you must possess and maintain a valid Washington State driver’s license and be eligible for the Tribes’ Vehicle Insurance. In addition, this position may be subject to pre-employment background clearances. If applicable, these clearances must be maintained throughout employment.
