E-Logic is seeking On-Call School Bus Operators (Non-CDL) to support the D.C. Safe Passage Program on an as-needed basis. Operators will provide safe and reliable transportation services for students traveling to and from schools within designated Safe Passage Zones in Wards 7 and 8. Operators will work collaboratively with assigned DCSC Aides to ensure the safety and well-being of all passengers during transportation services.
Schedule (On-Call)
This is an on-call position
, with work assigned based on program needs, absences, or operational coverage requirements. When scheduled, operators may be required to work:
- One 3-hour morning shift (student pick-up), and/or
- One 3-hour afternoon shift (student drop-off)
Shifts are not guaranteed and may vary week to week.
Responsibilities- Provide safe, reliable, and efficient transportation services for DCSC-authorized students.
- Operate vehicles designed to carry 10 or more passengers, including passenger vans, shuttles, or sedans.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safety and operational readiness (tires, lights, oil levels, first aid kits, etc.).
- Maintain accurate trip logs, including mileage, fuel usage, and stops.
- Immediately report vehicle defects, traffic violations, accidents, or operational issues.
- Keep assigned vehicles clean and sanitized after each commute.
- Comply with emergency evacuation procedures and execute evacuations when required.
- Adhere strictly to DCSC policies, including transporting only authorized students.
- Coordinate closely with DCSC Aides to ensure student supervision and safety.
- Follow all communication protocols, including reporting issues to the DCSC Dispatcher.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience driving passenger vehicles (e.g., shuttle vans, sedans).
- Valid driver's license appropriate for the assigned vehicle class.
- Current and valid CPR and First Aid certifications (must be maintained without lapse).
- Clean record with no serious motor vehicle violations (e.g., DUI, reckless driving, hit-and-run).
- Ability to pass a criminal background check.
- Proof of a negative TB test.
- Availability to work on an on-call, as-needed basis.
- Ability to operate vehicles safely in varying traffic and weather conditions.
- Knowledge of vehicle inspection and basic maintenance procedures.
- Strong communication skills for coordination with Dispatchers and Aides.
- High level of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.
- Experience with emergency response and vehicle evacuation procedures.
