British Swim School of North Washington DC-Capital Suburb is hiring energetic and dedicated Swim Instructors for various locations, including Washington DC, Falls Church, Fairfax, and Burke. At British Swim School, we teach fun swim lessons, but that’s not all! We fast-track swimmers toward their goals while fostering a culture of life‑saving enthusiasm. Working at British Swim School you will be part of a team that is serious about saving lives and having fun while doing it. You will receive training to teach swim lessons to children and adults starting at 3‑months old, following the British Swim School aquatics program that is gentle, fun, and progressive.

Additionally, you will be involved in sales, customer service, deck management, and ensuring all lessons meet brand and safety standards. Your class schedule will be developed by managers.

• Report directly to and support the Aquatics Manager and/or Business Owner(s).
• Instruct swimming lessons in accordance with British Swim School training and program standards, maintaining certifications throughout employment.
• Work a flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by business needs.
• Work in an environment where noise levels are usually moderate to high and be in the water for the duration of the shift.

• High school diploma, equivalent, or in the process of completion.
• Enthusiastic personality.
• Comfortable in and around the water. Strong swimming skills are a plus but can be taught and developed.
• Must maintain certifications throughout the length of employment.
• Must complete all required British Swim School Aquatics-specific training and testing.

• Experience working with children.
• Swimming experience: 1‑2 years preferred but not required.
• Customer service skills: 1 year preferred.
• Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED Certification(s) preferred (but can be obtained during training).

While we teach swimming to people of all ages and abilities, most of our students are preschool and elementary‑aged kids. Our instructors should like working with this age group and be good at making parents feel comfortable. It’s helpful if you have experience with children or in a child‑focused job, but it’s not required if you can show the right attitude.

The job comes with specialized training in our advanced and unique British Swim School approach.

We also have exciting opportunities with our Customer Service Team, even if you’re not in the pool. These roles involve talking to parents on the phone or by the pool.
