Software Engineer, Data Engineer
Position Summary
Constellis is hiring a Processing Engineer to build, test, and maintain the real-time data processing pipeline that normalizes, enriches, and routes sensor events across the Lexso platform. This role focuses on transforming raw sensor data into reliable, schema‑compliant normalized events that downstream systems depend on. This role will work closely with the Processing Lead and adjacent teams (Ingestion, Spatial Grid, UI, Integrations).
Responsibilities- Implement and maintain sensor event normalization pipelines (camera, radar, RF, IoT, etc.)
- Enforce Lexso event schemas (who / what / where / when / how)
- Perform spatial enrichment (ENU, H3, zone resolution)
- Integrate Kafka-based streaming workflows
- Write automated validation and unit tests for normalized outputs
- Debug data quality, timing, and schema issues across services
- Collaborate with Ingestion and Spatial Grid teams on interfaces and contracts
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and local developer tooling
- Strong Python experience (data processing, services, testing)
- Experience with streaming systems (Kafka or equivalent)
- Familiarity with JSON schemas and schema validation
- Understanding of geospatial concepts (lat/lon, ENU, H3 preferred)
- Experience writing unit tests (pytest or equivalent)
- Experience working in distributed, microservice architectures
- Ability to read and interpret raw sensor data
- Eligible to obtain a Top Secret clearance
- Preferred experience:
- Experience with Bytewax, Arroyo, or stream processors
- Familiarity with sensor systems (video, radar, RF, LiDAR)
- Prior Kubernetes / Docker experience preferred

Work is typically based in a busy office environment and subject to frequent interruptions. Business work hours are Monday-Friday standard core hours, however some extended or weekend hours may be required. Travel may be required for this role.
Physical RequirementsMay be required to lift and carry awkward items weighing up to 50 lbs. Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting, squatting, stretching and bending throughout the workday.
