Software Engineer, DevOps
We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer with an active Top-Secret clearance to support a mission‑critical government program in Washington, DC. This is a 6‑month contract to hire position supporting a secure development environment focused on building, enhancing, and maintaining modern software applications.
The ideal candidate has experience in Java or Python development, has worked within classified or secure environments, and can contribute to a collaborative Agile engineering team.
Key Responsibilities- Design, develop, test, and deploy secure software applications in a classified environment.
- Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code in Java, Python, or related languages
. - Build and maintain REST APIs
, microservices
, and backend systems. - Support software enhancements, bug fixing, and feature development.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including daily standups, sprint planning, and reviews.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues in coordination with system engineers and mission stakeholders.
- Document technical work clearly and in accordance with government standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate software components into secure systems.
- Ensure all work meets security, compliance, and quality requirements.
- Must possess an active Top Secret clearance.
- TS/SCI strongly preferred.
- 3+ years of experience as a Software Engineer.
- Proficiency with Java or Python
- Experience with REST APIs
, microservices
, or backend systems. - Familiarity with Linux and Git
. - Experience with AWS Gov Cloud
, Azure Gov
, or other cloud environments. - Front-end experience with React
, Angular
, or similar frameworks. - Containerization tools such as Docker or Kubernetes
. - CI/CD experience (Jenkins, Git Lab, Bamboo).
- Prior experience supporting DoD or Intelligence Community environments.
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education. Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
