Jr. Software Engineer

Job Summary

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking an experienced Software Engineer / BI Developer to join our team on a hybrid-basis in Washington, D.C. The Software Engineer will guide the transformation and automation of enterprise Business Intelligence systems. This position involves modernizing legacy analytics environments while building scalable data solutions and automated workflows. The role requires strong proficiency in Data Warehousing, Tableau development, cloud data ecosystems, and API‑driven automation.

• Lead the modernization of BI platforms by developing high-quality, visually engaging Tableau dashboards and migrating legacy OBIEE assets to a modern Tableau environment.
• Partner with product owners and stakeholders to interpret business requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions.
• Build prototypes and evolving BI solutions that translate conceptual ideas into polished, production-ready dashboards.
• Design, develop, and maintain scalable Data Warehousing architectures using cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure, or Databricks.
• Implement API-driven integrations and automation workflows to enhance BI operations, streamline data pipelines, and minimize manual processes.
• Communicate progress, risks, and delivery expectations while ensuring all BI outputs meet performance, reliability, and quality standards.

• 2+ Years of experience as a Software Engineer
• Hands‑on experience with data integration or orchestration tools such as Apache Kafka, Airflow, Talend, or comparable frameworks.
• Familiarity with serverless automation solutions, including AWS Lambda or similar technologies.
• Understanding of AI or machine learning workflows, particularly within cloud environments like Databricks.
• Working knowledge of CI/CD practices and version control platforms such as Git.
• Proven experience contributing to Agile teams using methodologies like Scrum or Kanban and tools such as JIRA.
• Strong background in transforming business requirements into scalable technical BI solutions.
• Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance

• Pay Range: $75,000-$85,000 depending on experience
