Position Title
EEO Investigator
Job SummaryThe Equal Employment Opportunity & Access office (EEOA) provides consultative services to assist staff with situations that involve allegations of unfair treatment, discrimination and harassment, as well as disability and religious accommodations.
Responsibilities- Conduct inquiries into general and discrimination claims raised in EEO complaints, serving as an unbiased fact gatherer; identify and secure information through interview of witnesses and review of written records.
- Research, review, and become familiar with applicable policies and procedures; independently develop investigative plans, including determining individuals to interview, appropriate interview questions, and documents to review.
- Assist in preparing position statements in response to external charges of discrimination filed with government agencies.
- Use direction, display sound judgment, and ensure confidentiality in handling case matters.
- Create and maintain accurate, detailed records for interviews and prepare objective comprehensive reports that integrate and analyze information gathered during an investigation.
- Organize and update EEO files.
- Conduct training and assist in developing general training materials related to HRMD policies, procedures, and documentation on Equal Employment Opportunity for the university.
- Investigate and resolve both routine and non-routine grievances, and coordinate university policies and procedures related to persons with disabilities.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Holder of a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
