The Lead Technician is responsible for overseeing the installation of various types of cables, including but not limited to twisted pair cables, coaxial cables, power-limited tray cables, stranded and solid conductor low voltage cables, CAT-6, CAT-5, and both single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic cables. This role involves the physical installation of these cables, ensuring proper placement, termination, testing, labeling, and documentation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Train, direct, and oversee other technicians to ensure proper safety, installation, and maintenance procedures are followed. Tasks outlined in the Scope of Work (SoW) must be completed safely, efficiently, and on time.
  • Escalate high-risk or unfamiliar tasks as needed to ensure the appropriate level of support is provided.
  • Adhere to and enforce environmental, health, and safety policies provided by both the company and clients.
  • Work alongside other Lead Technicians to provide regular feedback and development opportunities for team members.
  • Effectively utilize tools provided by the company, including the Order Package, SSP (focusing on SoW, schedule dependencies, and budget), SNAPSHOT, network diagrams, QA checklists, punch lists, and closing packages.
  • Maintain clear communication with clients, management, and coworkers to ensure alignment throughout the project.
  • Assess and respond to site or scope changes in real time, escalating any issues that could significantly impact the project's scope, resources, or timeline.
  • Provide timely and accurate status updates to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Handle requests for change (RFC) and field change orders (FCO) as necessary.
  • Support client interactions and assist technicians as needed throughout the project.
  • Meet with clients to determine satisfaction and identify areas for improvement.
Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Skilled in the installation, termination, and testing of low voltage and fiber optic cables, including twisted pair, coaxial, power-limited tray, stranded and solid conductor, and both single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic cables.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and proficiency with small hand tools and power tools.
Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma/GED, or equivalent education, training, and work experience.
  • 2 to 5 years of hands-on experience in installing cabling and electronic devices associated with telecom systems, TCP/IP networks, CCTV, security, access control, and wireless solutions.
  • Strong working knowledge of ANSI/TIA/EIA cabling standards and the National Electric Code (NEC).
