HVAC Controls Technician II

Location:

Bowie, MD, Washington DC, and/or N. Virginia area.

• Provide responsive and professional customer service with the goal of building and maintaining long‑term customer relationships.
• Identify, analyze, diagnose, and troubleshoot direct digital control systems.
• Perform preventative maintenance, commissioning, and replacement modifications as needed or requested by customers.
• Maintain building automation systems by inspecting trend logs, reports, schedules, applications, hardware, and programming.
• Provide controls technical support to HVAC technicians.
• Create and/or implement programming and graphics for new installations and retrofit projects.
• Commission controls installations and verify that control sequences meet scope, design, or specifications.
• Provide training and follow‑ups for customers and operations personnel.
• Complete work orders and review with customers for accuracy.
• Continually look for ways to improve our processes and ability to serve our customers effectively.

• Factory Certified Training, Online Training Courses, or other professional on‑the‑job training in the HVAC Industry.

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 3+ years of related experience with increasing responsibility.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs with or without an accommodation.
• Required license(s) and/or training card as required by local law district.

• Experience in BAS, HVAC, or related industry.
• Proficiency with test instruments and calibration tools.
• Competency in operation of engineering/commissioning tools, DDC controllers and field devices, BACnet protocol fundamentals.
• Competency in the operation of HVAC equipment and controls.
• Ability to understand written sequences of operation.
• Ability to read low voltage wiring diagrams and controls flow diagrams.
• Niagara AX and/or Niagara 4 certification.
• Experience with any common integration protocols such as BACnet MST/IP, LON, Modbus TCP/RTU, Ethernet OIP, MQTT, or SQL.
• Strong computer skills, including computer networking fundamentals.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Customer‑focused, results‑oriented professional, and strong team player.
• Motivated self‑starter that demonstrates initiative.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and stay organized.
• Current first aid/CPR card.

The typical hourly pay rate for this position ranges from $37.90 - $58.70 in Bowie, MD. The range displayed represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade which this position falls. Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
