The Maintenance Mechanic will perform operations, repairs, and maintenance of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing equipment within the facility. The position requires acquiring skills and knowledge to complete the training needed to obtain licenses. Working hours are 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM, with weekends required, in Washington, DC. Salary ranges from $20 to $24 per hour, depending on experience.
Typical Day (Responsibilities)- Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly inspections of systems and associated equipment
- Perform preventative and general maintenance on a scheduled basis
- Maintain equipment to industry standards
- Diagnose and repair simple HVAC, plumbing, and electrical problems as required or assigned by a supervisor
- Assist and support subcontractors performing installation or repair of equipment and/or hardware
- Interface with building managers and other customer representatives to ensure client satisfaction
- Complete daily,, and/or monthly reports of system status as directed by a supervisor
- Run wiring, cabling, and ductwork, and mount equipment according to specifications as directed
- Place or remove systems and equipment as directed
- Purchase materials and supplies, and maintain inventory to support timely work completion
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Must be available to work all shifts
- Must be on call 24/7
- Basic coursework in electrical and HVAC systems
- Universal CFC/R‑410A certification
- Prior hotel experience is a plus
- Reliable transportation
- Capable of lifting 60 pounds
- Capable of ascending ladders up to 30 feet
- Excellent customer service skills
