The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the general operation and maintenance of all building equipment and systems, with general knowledge of installation and repair of refrigeration, plumbing, and electrical systems of the W. Wiley Federal Building.
Schedule10:00 am – 6:00 pm
Pay Rate$40.60/hourly
Work ModelOnsite/In-Office
Responsibilities- Quickly respond to hot/cold calls from clients or tenants.
- Prepare the building and its systems for significant weather changes from summer to winter.
- Perform basic plumbing repairs such as leaky pipes or replacing flushometers.
- Work with the Chief or Lead Engineer to gain additional knowledge of the trades.
- Perform daily workload with little or no supervision.
- Collaborate with co‑workers to access, address, and solve challenges as they arise.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Desire to move up within the organization by demonstrating skill and drive.
- Pass extensive background analysis.
- Read blue print diagrams or willingness to learn.
- Climb 8-foot ladder and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Knowledge of DDC systems to control space temperature.
- Show respect and sensitivity for cultural differences; educate others on diversity; promote a harassment‑free environment.
- Treat people with respect, keep commitments, inspire trust, work with integrity, uphold organizational values.
- High School diploma or GED required.
- 4 years’ experience in operations and maintenance.
- Experience working in a government facility.
- Basic HVAC; CFC Universal knowledge.
- Work in temperature‑controlled office with frequent exposure to electronic equipment.
- May be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather, fumes, airborne particles, toxic chemicals, and loud noise during operations.
- Frequently sit, walk, use hands to reach, kneel, or crawl.
- Occasionally stand, climb, balance, stoop, or lift and move up to 50 pounds.
- Close vision required for specific tasks.
