Overview
The primary purpose of this position is to operate gasoline or diesel-powered engineering and construction heavy equipment on flat or rolling terrain, refuse dumps, and/or construction sites with simple terrain problems.

Duties- Operate gasoline or diesel-powered engineering and construction equipment with wheeled or crawler type traction, such as road graders, tractors with bulldozer or angle dozer blades, front end loaders, backhoes, wheel loader, trench diggers, wheel loader, trench diggers, and large industrial tractors with pan or scraper attachments.
- Pull a variety of large roadway trailers to haul track and wheel type equipment, haul debris, stone, gravel, soil, etc., safely load and secure equipment to be hauled.
- Operate grader, loader, dozer and dump truck to remove snow from roads and parking lots during winter months.
- Must have the ability and experience to safely operate engineering equipment around underground utilities including high voltage powerlines and watermain transmission lines.
- Use equipment to perform land fill maintenance, roadside brushing, etc.
- Operate up to 14 cubic yard straight dump trucks or truck tractors with belly or side dump trailers for the purpose of moving dirt, asphalt and coarse materials for roadways and shoulders, hauling riprap, barriers and logs.
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication.
- Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males.
- Selectee will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program.
- You will be required to submit to a drug test and receive a negative drug test result prior to appointment. In addition, this position is subject to random testing for illegal drug use.
- You must possess and maintain a current Class B (or higher) Commercial Driver's License.
- You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided.
- You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and shift work.
- The position is considered essential during emergency situation.
- You must be able to lift 50 pounds.

The typical seasonal entry-on-duty period is March to August but can be variable during these months due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding. Anticipated Entry on Duty:
