Position:
Solar Electrician (Journeyman)

You will provide hands-on technical expertise at multiple PV plant sites to meet maintenance requirements and troubleshoot/repair equipment issues, including emergency repairs. Your electrical skills will be applied in one or more of these areas: PV array, inverter, medium voltage, and battery storage (BESS). You will conduct regular maintenance, perform repairs/installations, and assist with training technicians as well as oversee contractors/sub-contractors for field operations.

Duties
  • Maintain, diagnose, and repair system failures on existing solar sites; identify and correct issues that may impact future performance.
  • Perform equipment assessments, diagnosis and modifications; develop solutions and communicate with operations teams.
  • Diagnose/troubleshoot equipment failures and perform preventative maintenance on solar/electrical equipment.
  • Qualify equipment and systems for use or replacement, including warranty matters.
  • Install, remove, maintain, and direct maintenance of solar, BESS and related electrical equipment.
  • Ensure a safe, event-free work environment through adherence to protocols, safety procedures, and regulations; provide leadership and oversight for safety.
  • Prepare and review service tickets and reports for site visits, emergency repairs, equipment modifications and investigations; provide timely written and oral communications.
  • Communicate with customers, engineers, technicians, project managers, and contractors to ensure timely resolution of maintenance requirements.
Education & Certification Required
  • DC Journeyman license required
Experience Required
  • 1+ years of electrical experience with electrical license
Specialized or Technical Knowledge & Licenses/Certifications (Preferred)
  • Inverter and/or BESS manufacturers’ certifications
  • Thermography certifications (Level
    1)
  • IT/networking skills: familiarity with RS485, Modbus, TCP/IP
  • NABCEP PV Installer Certification
  • OSHA 30 Certification
  • NFPA 70E courses
  • CPR/First Aid
Functional Knowledge
  • Knowledge of National Electrical Code and standard design/construction practices; OSHA safe practices; ability to read electrical diagrams and related drawings or permitting documents
Company/Industry Knowledge
  • Electric and related utilities and maintenance;
    Solar energy installation, maintenance, and optimization
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly
  • Move safely over uneven terrain
  • Sit or drive for extended periods
  • Climb ladders while carrying 50 pounds
  • Work in extreme weather
