Responsible for installing, maintaining, inspecting, and repairing high voltage electrical systems, often requiring specialized knowledge and safety protocols to work with high voltage electricity.
Responsibilities- Supervises high voltage electricians and/or other electricians to perform specified electrical work; installs, repairs, or maintains transformers, generators, circuit breakers, conduits and panels; test electrical circuits; replaces units or parts, including wiring, fuses, transformers, coils and switches.
- Plans layout, installs, and repairs wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment; plans new or modified installations consistent with specifications and local electrical codes.
- Coordinates the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical service. Performs specialized activities, including coordinating electrical renovations and performing high-voltage electrical work.
- Reads, interprets, and works from blueprints, schematic drawings, and specifications, ensuring concealed wiring is installed before completion of future walls, ceilings, and flooring. Prepares sketches showing wiring equipment location.
- Tests continuity of circuits to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components; observes functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, and/or replacement.
- Prepares estimates of time, labor, and materials. Prepares reports reflecting daily operations and project status.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education: High School Diploma or GED
Experience: Ten years progressively responsible experience in the trade(s) where assigned to include at least three years in a lead or supervisory role.

Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesKnowledge, Skills & Abilities: Comprehensive knowledge of and skill in the methods and techniques of the trade(s) where assigned; OSHA regulations related to the trade(s) area; practical application of electronics, hydraulics, and mechanics as used in maintenance work; basic mathematics (area, volume, weights, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions); principles of supervision in maintenance trades; care and storage of equipment and supplies;
use and maintenance of tools and equipment; reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, drawings, and specifications; effective oral and written communication; supervision and training of skilled and unskilled employees; planning and organizing maintenance work; evaluating cost estimates; preparing specifications for tools, equipment, materials, and supplies; preparing summaries and reports; computer use for correspondence and reporting; maintenance of automated work management, timekeeping, and warehouse systems;
ability to work around fixed equipment and machinery; ability to work from ladders and scaffolds; ability to lift up to 70 lbs; ability to work in hazardous or irritating environments, confined spaces, and adverse weather conditions.
