Under the leadership of a 3rd class engineer (Lead Tech or Tech II), this position is responsible for the safe, efficient, and economical operation and maintenance of the central plant, heat distribution systems, regulating stations, central chillers, air‑conditioning equipment, and other associated HVACR equipment throughout the CUA campus.
The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position is $32.81.
Responsibilities- Diagnose and repair malfunctions to all CUA owned HVACR systems across the campus.
- Perform routine maintenance, such as cleaning coils and changing filters.
- Calibrate and repair thermostats and other controls.
- Repair or replace faulty components like compressors, fans, and motors.
- Troubleshoot and repair motor starters and various control circuits for equipment.
- Maintain all pumps and auxiliaries in proper operating condition, under the direction of a 3rd class engineer (Lead Tech or Tech II).
- Maintain and operate chillers and cooling towers throughout the campus under the direction of a 3rd class engineer (Lead Tech or Tech II).
- Maintain low‑pressure boilers located around campus under the direction of a 3rd class engineer (Lead Tech or Tech II).
- Maintain all required logs and records for hot water boilers and chillers.
- Record all data/reading for all plant equipment, including water treatment program, CFC logs, and all other logs required by law or university.
- Maintain the proper water treatment program, including performance of tests.
- Receive, complete, and update work orders in eMaintenance.
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- At least two (2) years’ experience in the HVACR field.
- A valid EPA CFC Universal Class License.
- A valid driver’s license from applicable state of residence, with no DWI record (subject to verification).
- Annual clearance of MVR check through the Office of Environmental Health and Safety.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully operate and maintain HVACR equipment and systems, including the centralized Energy Management System (EMS), in a safe and efficient manner.
- By collective bargaining agreement, the person filling this position must become a member of the Union (currently Local 99‑99A‑99C) within 30 days and retain membership in good standing for the duration of employment.
