Two years of experience as a Metro Transit Police Officer I or related role. - Level TP III
Five years of experience as a Metro Transit Police Officer I & II, or related role.

Job SummaryThe Metro Transit Police Officer protects life, safety, and welfare of transit patrons and employees, enforces laws and regulations, investigates crimes committed on or against facilities owned, controlled, or operated by the Authority, and protects Authority revenue. The incumbent serves as a sworn police officer with full apprehension and arrest powers throughout the Transit zone. The position requires police certification in Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia.
EssentialFunctions
- Investigate crimes or incidents, preserve evidence, identify witnesses, and protect the crime scene.
- Respond to calls for police matters, disaster and emergency incidents. Perform rescue functions involving accidents, emergencies, and disasters; assume initial command and implement the Incident Command System.
- Assist transit patrons with information, emergency first aid, and CPR. Patrol authority facilities to ensure order and prevent crime.
- Endure verbal and mental abuse when confronting hostile views and opinions of criminal defendants, suspects, arrestees, and other people encountered in an antagonistic environment.
- Restrict criminal suspects, forcibly if necessary, using handcuffs and other restraints; subdue resisting arrestees with approved tactics.
- Pursue fleeing suspects, perform rescue operations, and other duties requiring physical strength and agility.
- Perform searches of people, vehicles, and items capable of concealing contraband. Conduct foot patrolling and visually inspect buildings and stations to ensure security.
- Review legal and non‑legal documents, conduct surveillance, and prepare investigative and other reports.
