Executive Protection Specialist

Gavin de Becker & Associates (GDBA) protects the world’s most influential and at-risk public figures. Founded in 1978 by 3‑time Presidential appointee Gavin de Becker, our firm’s Protectors, Analysts & Investigators are committed to protecting human life through the assessment, prediction, and management of violence.

GDBA is seeking a Field Travel Protector. The role requires travel up to 130 days per year, potentially at a Residential Command Center, on a Field Detail, conducting an advance, or completing a Secure Transportation Operation (STO).

Compensation & Benefits. First‑year earnings start at a minimum of $90,000 (40‑hour week). Potential to exceed $120,000 based on experience, overtime, bonuses, travel pay, etc. A sign‑on bonus and training academy scholarship are also available.

• Ability to travel up to 130 days per year (typically in 1–2 week blocks)
• Exceptional communication skills and physical fitness
• Drug‑ and nicotine‑free
• Pass a pre‑employment background investigation
• Must live within a commutable distance of downtown Washington, DC

• MILITARY background:
  Junior Officers & Staff NCOs preferred
• Law Enforcement background: at least 3 years’ experience
• Assigned to Military Protective Security Operations Units (Air Force OSI, Army CID, Marine Corps CID, Navy NCIS)
• Assigned to State or Federal Law Enforcement Protection Units (close protection of mayors, governors, high‑ranking officials)
• Demonstrated exceptional results in close protection, including logistics, advancing locations, and secure transportation

• Provide executive protection and logistics support for domestic & international travel
• Advance locations prior to a protectee’s arrival
• Disseminate security‑related incident information to protectee & leadership
• Coordinate contingency plans and medical response to emergencies
• Work independently and adapt to varying work‑paces while maintaining high attentiveness & energy
• Exercise sound operational judgment & flexibility to shifting priorities & challenges
