Summary
Reporting to the Manager of Security, the SPO Supervisor of Security competently performs all duties assigned to Special Police Officers as needed or required by the situation(s). SPO Supervisors provide instruction, guidance, training, and direction to all Special Police Officers in their care, ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, and task assignments. SPO Supervisors lead one of the three shifts, directing activities and ensuring completion of tasks associated with the shift in a professional and timely fashion.
This position is designated an “essential employee” and may require staying beyond regular hours or reporting on short notice to maintain staffing coverage. The Nationals are a military‑friendly organization actively recruiting veterans and spouses.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Remain proficient and ready to fulfill all requirements of a Special Police Officer.
- Perform duties in a respectful, professional and dignified manner, ensuring compliance with established standards.
- Conduct patrols as outlined by Post Instructions and Security Informational Updates, focusing on investigative thoroughness and competence.
- Maintain order on the property through respectful customer service toward guests, visitors, employees and unknown individuals.
- Prevent trespassers and unauthorized individuals from accessing the property, using legal methods outlined in policy. Take recommended actions for conduct and law violations.
- Respond immediately to emergencies, situations, and events as required.
- Submit well‑written and comprehensive reports describing complaints, observations, actions taken, and investigative findings.
- Advise the On‑Duty Manager of any activities of interest or concern at the stadium.
- Plan assignments, direct work, appraise performance, and reward or discipline personnel in conjunction with the Security Manager; develop shift goals and objectives.
- Properly train, develop, evaluate, and inspect subordinates on all aspects of their post assignments and duties.
- Interact directly with all Special Police Officers charged in their care to ensure policy, procedure, uniform, and appearance standards are met.
- Take corrective action professionally when discrepancies arise; document and report to Manager or Director of Security.
- Conduct roll‑call activities and review shift reports, brief sheets, pass‑down information, staffing schedules, and other relevant materials.
- Inspect shift‑related support items for accountability and serviceability; report discrepancies to Manager in a timely manner.
- Perform post checks and compliance evaluations, making necessary corrections.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
- Minimum two years of related security experience.
- Minimum one year of supervisory or leadership experience.
- MOS (SOMB) Security license.
- U.S. Citizen.
- At least twenty‑one (21) years of age.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Excellent organizational abilities for multitasking and meeting deadlines.
- Attention to data integrity and accurate timely data.
- Effective oral and written communication with strong interpersonal skills.
- Computer proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Internet use.
- Competent keyboard skills for accurate document preparation.
- Ability to operate under pressure.
- Basic budget management and calculations.
- Ability to deliver results, meet tight deadlines, and targets.
- Work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Strong teamwork ability.
- Attention to detail and time management.
- Strong work ethic and desire to build a career in professional sports.
- Knowledge of MLB Security policies and procedures.
- Office work in a normal environment with occasional weekend or evening work.
- Must function in a high activity, crowded outdoor sports venue; may work at heights and be exposed to inclement weather.
- Regular standing, walking, climbing stairs; stooping, kneeling, crouching, or sitting; lifting or moving up to 45 pounds.
The projected hourly range is $24 per hour, adjusted for qualifications, skills, expertise, education/training, and certifications.
