Armed Protective Security Officers (PSO) - Washington, D.C.

Responsibilities- Protect the principal against possible threats.
- Federal building access control; employee and visitor identification checks; security equipment monitoring; roving patrols of interior and exterior federal property.
- Monitor surveillance cameras for disruptions or unlawful activity.
- Provide detailed reports on daily activities and incidents.
- Use magnetometer and X‑ray machines effectively.
- Communicate through two‑way radios clearly and concisely.
- Leverage excellent listening and service skills in emergency response and evaluation procedures.
- Perform CPR or first aid when needed.
- Maintain credentials per contract requirements.
- Other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Project Manager.
- Minimum 21 years of age.
- United States citizen or lawful permanent resident with verifiable honorable discharge from any component of the Armed Forces.
- Social Security Card issued by the Social Security Administration.
- Minimum 2 years of armed security experience or 1 year of full‑duty police experience in a full‑service police department.
- Minimum 2 years of service in any U.S. Armed Forces with honorable discharge.
- Fluency in English; ability to compose written reports in English.
- Capability to qualify with a revolver or semi‑automatic firearm.
- Strong knowledge of the security industry.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Customer‑service driven mindset.
- Ability to communicate effectively and present information to all levels of internal and external customers.
- Perform tasks requiring frequent and prolonged walking, standing, sitting, stooping for up to 12 hours per day, indoors or outdoors.
- Interact frequently with the general public, law enforcement, and dispatch center; speak clearly and remain calm in stressful situations.
- Remain on post for up to 4 consecutive hours without sitting, eating, or receiving a break.
- Remain alert for up to 12 hours, reacting quickly to unexpected and dangerous situations.
- Subdue violent or potentially violent individuals or intervene in a crisis.
- Occasional running, sprinting, lifting heavy weights, moving heavy objects, climbing stairs.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- MD Armed Guard Card.
- Tri‑Annual Refresher Exhibit.
- DHS Suitability.
- CPR/American Red Cross Certification.
- MD Security Guard Certification Unarmed.
- National Weapons Detection Training Program (NWDTP).
- MEB Expandable Baton training.
- Firearms Qualification.
- Initials Weapon Training.
- FPS Orientation Certificate.
- Basic Training Exhibits 72/64 hours.
- O.C. aerosol spray training.
- Medical Insurance, Life Insurance, Dental Insurance, Vision Insurance.
- Paid Vacation, Paid Sick Days, Paid Holidays.
Full and Part‑Time position; 1st, 2nd, 3rd Shift;
Weekends.
