Overview
To assist with the review of Section 301 Tariffs, public comments, and exclusion requests.
BackgroundThis work could include tasks such as legal and factual research, analyzing and summarizing documents, drafting summary materials, preparing documents for filings, checking citations and facts, and preparing documentary evidence for presentation.

Responsibilities- Knowledge or use of Chinese Websites and conducting Primary Source Research of Government Websites, and State-Owned Media sites.
- In addition to the English language, conduct research in the Mandarin Chinese language.
- Translate research results into English.
- Draft memoranda summarizing and/or analyzing research results.
- Review documents for identified subject matter.
- Scan and file images of documents as appropriate.
- Assist in the creation and updating of tracking logs.
- Review, summarization, of Chinese Website and preparation of documents. Perform fact and citation checks.
- Submit, per assignment and according to the project schedule(s) set by the USTR Program Manager, all documentation completed based on research, fact-checking, citation checking, document preparation, and translation.
- Mandatory:
Conduct research in the Mandarin Chinese language. Translate research results into English. Knowledge or use of Chinese Websites. - Preferred:
Ability to conduct Primary Source Research. Ability to navigate Google search terms in Mandarin for desired results.
- Native level Mandarin fluency is required.
- A language assessment will be administered as a final portion of the interview process. Candidates will be asked to translate a PDF in the target language, and answer comprehension questions at the end of the document.
- Bachelor's Degree or 4 additional years of relevant experience.
- A preferred degree to be in an international field (e.g., East Asian Studies, Chinese Studies, International Affairs).
