Overview
This role is designed for a detail-oriented, operations-driven Assistant Property Manager who thrives in fast-paced affordable housing environments and can support in stabilizing underperforming or distressed communities. The focus is on supporting day-to-day operations, improving occupancy, ensuring compliance, strengthening rent collections, and delivering exceptional resident service while assisting the Property Manager in returning the community to standard performance levels.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in daily operations of the property, including rent collections, lease administration, and resident relations
- Support the Property Manager with budgeting, reporting, and expense control to improve financial performance
- Oversee and assist with leasing efforts, ensuring timely follow-up on leads and accurate processing of applications
- Coordinate move-ins, move-outs, inspections, and work orders to maintain high resident satisfaction and compliance with company standards
- Ensure compliance with Tax Credit, HUD, and local housing regulations; maintain all required documentation and certifications
- Assist with staff scheduling, supervision, and training to promote consistent operational standards
- Monitor delinquencies and work with residents on payment arrangements to reduce outstanding balances
- Handle resident concerns professionally and efficiently to foster a positive community environment
- Maintain accurate records and prepare reports as requested by the Property Manager or Regional leadership
- Minimum 3 years of experience as an Assistant Property Manager or similar role in affordable or Tax Credit housing
- Knowledge of property management operations, rent collection processes, and regulatory compliance
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and follow-through
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities
- Experience with property management software (Boston Post preferred)
- Customer service–oriented, professional, and proactive in approach
