Overview

Responsibilities- Perform landscape maintenance including grass mowing, trimming and edging, weed removal, daily policing of the grounds, irrigating lawns and planted areas, mulching, reactivating flower beds and tree saucers, laying sod, and assisting in the application of pesticides.
- Work as part of a central landscape maintenance group, performing semi-skilled landscape labor in accordance with industry practices.
- Complete monthly assignments according to seasonal schedules, respond to service requests (e.g., preventive maintenance of storm drains), and respond to emergencies.
- Use standard tools, equipment, materials, and supplies of the trade and observe all safety rules, regulations, and precautions.
The position reports directly to the Landscape and Grounds Supervisor along with eight other laborers (Gardener II and Gardener positions). The position reports indirectly to the Gardener II or Gardener positions. It is part of a landscape maintenance team that supports a direct service of the department in ensuring an attractive, comfortable, safe and clean environment on campus.
Requirements And Qualifications- High School Diploma required or equivalency
- Requires one to three years of grounds landscape maintenance experience
- Requires valid driver's license and ability to operate pickup trucks, tractors, skid steer loaders, all-terrain vehicles and other specialized grounds equipment
