Position: Veterinary Assistant – Full‑time
Location: 7150 12th St. NW, Suite 201, Washington, DC 20012
Wage: $18 - $24 per hour

- Familiarity with veterinary medications (NSAIDS, antibiotics, etc.).
- Venipuncture expertise (blood draws for most patients).
- Ability to prepare ear, skin, and urine cytologies (preferred).
- Surgical monitoring experience (preferred) – prep, machine setup, premeds.
- Fear Free certification or willingness to undergo training.
- Monday to Wednesday: 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM
- Thursday: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
- Friday: 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM
- Saturday: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Position Skills- Assist DVMs and credentialed technicians with appointments, patient prep for surgery and minor procedures, surgical assisting, and proactive setup for procedures or diagnostics.
- Restrain animals safely, efficiently, and compassionately.
- Obtain accurate vitals, medical histories, and monitor patient conditions.
- Collect and prepare laboratory samples (fecal, urine, ear cytologies).
- Maintain all medical equipment, including laboratory machines, surgical packs, anesthesia machines.
- Communicate high‑quality client updates and answer questions.
- High School diploma or GED.
- Flexible schedule, including some weekend and holiday shifts.
- Knowledge of medical procedures and animal handling.
- Strong communication skills, good judgment, ability to manage stressful situations, and work respectfully with others.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
