Are you ready to further your career in Dialysis with both adult and pediatric patients and apheresis? Med Star Georgetown University Hospital’s Dialysis and Apheresis Units are looking for passionate and skilled nurses to join our team! Our hospital is located on Georgetown University’s campus.
Unit Description
Med Star Georgetown’s 2 South is a five bed Acute Dialysis Unit and a three bed Apheresis Unit. When working in Dialysis nurses provide hemodialysis treatments to admitted patients throughout Med Star Georgetown University Hospital. While most patients receive treatment on 2 South, nurses from the unit will travel to the ICU to provide hemodialysis to critically ill patients at the bedside.
When working in Apheresis, nurses perform Peripheral Blood Stem Cell Collections and therapeutic treatments such as plasma and red cell exchange and photopheresis. Nurses on 2 South are active in Collaborative Governance throughout the hospital and are encouraged to participate in professional development opportunities through coaching and mentoring.
Qualifications
- ADN, BSN, MSN, or CNL from an accredited School of Nursing required.
- At least one year of hospital-based RN experience in Dialysis is required.
- Active DC RN License and Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers required (AHA or American Red Cross).
Education
- BSN Preferred. Will consider candidates enrolled in a BSN program.
- CDN or CNN Certification preferred (Certified Dialysis Nurse or Certified Nephrology Nurse).
Schedule
- Self-scheduling;
Six week schedules - For 40 hr/wk schedule Monday to Friday, either 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM or 10:00 AM – 8:30 PM, and Saturday 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM. There are no Sunday shifts
- For 36hr/wk 7am to 7:30pm
- On-call will be 4–6 times per cut off (typically once a week) and 1 Saturday and 1 Sunday (depending on staffing).
- On call pay $10/hr
