this position is located in the office of the chief nursing executive. The incumbent serves as the director of performance improvement for st. Elizabeths hospital (seh) and acts as the primary senior advisor to the chief nursing executive on all issues pertaining to quality and the development of plans and progress to address deficiencies in nursing services. The incumbent also advises on operational issues as they affect quality of nursing care and works closely with unit management staff to ensure that quality and performance requirements are understood and implemented.
The role includes participating in the development of nursing program goals, resource needs, and allocation of resources in conjunction with the cne, planning and directing the professional array of nursing services through subordinate supervisors, and monitoring/auditing employee documentation with regular reporting to the chief nursing executive and nurse managers for performance improvement. The position also serves as liaison between nursing and policy department, leads the nursing review policy committee, and serves as the tjc expert.
It includes preparing and issuing a 24 hours daily nursing report detailing events concerning patients and unit activities. It provides expert consultation, guidance and coaching to nurse managers to develop efficient and effective systems of unit operations and collaborates with other nursing leaders and hospital leaders in the development, implementation, evaluation, and revision of nursing procedures and patient care programs.

duration of appointment“at will” employment applies to the management supervisory service (mss). All positions and appointments in the mss serve “at the pleasure of the appointing authority” and may be terminated at any time without cause.

qualificationsapplicant must possess at least one (1) year of the required specialized professional nursing as a registered nurse, sufficiently related to psychiatric nursing in a hospital setting. In addition, this position requires one (1) year of professional experience at the next lower level equivalent to ds-13.
