Medical-SurgicalUnit Highlights
General Medicine (C4-1) is a 16-bed unit designed to provide care for patients who have complex medical diagnoses. Nurses on this unit provide care for a diverse patient population with a wide range of healthcare requirements. The unit specializes in providing continuous pulse oximetry to patients along with care through the spectrum of life by partnering with Capital Caring Agency. Our staff is committed to the Med Star Georgetown mission of cura personalis, or caring for the whole person.
The Med/Tele nurses have educational and specialty certification training opportunities. Professional development initiatives and leadership support empower these nurses to participate within the inter-professional team that provides evidence-based, compassionate care. Representatives from this unit are involved in the Nurses Improving Care for Health system Elders (NICHE) Program, which has expanded throughout the Division of Nursing and achieved Exemplar Status. The unit uses a blended model of care with a team including nurses, patient care technicians, and a virtual nurse to ensure each member performs the fullest extent of their scope of care.
General Medicine/Telemetry and Behavioral Health Unit (C4-2) is a 16-bed unit designed to provide specialized care for patients needing continuous cardiac monitoring, behavioral health, and complex medical nursing care. The staff is committed to cura personalis. Med/Tele nurses have educational and specialty certification training opportunities. Professional development initiatives and leadership support empower these nurses within an inter-professional team that provides evidence-based, compassionate care.
Representatives from this unit led the NICHE Program; after a pilot on two medical units, it expanded throughout the Division of Nursing and achieved Exemplar Status. The unit uses a blended model of care with a team-based perspective and treatment approach using nurses, patient care technicians, and a virtual nurse to ensure full scope of care.
Medical/Surgical Unit (C4-3) is a 16-bed unit catering to patients requiring complex medical and/or surgical nursing care, including continuous pulse oximetry monitoring. Working on C4-3 helps nurses develop bedside skills including time-management, priority setting, clinical judgment, and critical thinking. Leadership support and professional development opportunities empower C4-3 nurses to advance along the clinical ladder and pursue specialty interests. The team emphasizes collaboration, communication, and a nurturing, safe environment for all associates.
New General Medical/Surgical Units (C6-1 and C6-2)
- C6-1 is a newly opened 16-bed General Medical-Surgical-Telemetry unit focused on patient-centered care in a collaborative environment. Nurses on this unit care for diverse medical and post-surgical needs, building strong assessment skills and clinical confidence.
Recently relocated to a refreshed space, C6-1 supports patient safety, staff efficiency, and interdisciplinary collaboration. This is a unique opportunity to join a team in its early stages and help create a positive, inclusive unit culture.
- C6-2 is a new 16-bed General Medical-Surgical unit offering care for patients with complex medical and post-operative needs in a modern, patient-focused environment. The unit supports a broad clinical experience, strengthening core Med-Surg skills while delivering evidence-based care. The space emphasizes optimal workflows and patient outcomes with continuous pulse oximetry monitoring and a focus on early intervention and safety.

- ADN, BSN, MSN, or CNL from an accredited School of Nursing required
- Clinical Nursing Experience required
- Active DC RN License required

This position has a hiring range of USD $41.78 - USD $63.66 /Hr.
