Job Title: Lactation Consultant (RN, IBCLC)
Location: Med Star Georgetown University Hospital, Washington, DC
Med Star Georgetown's Perinatal Department offers a family‑centered, holistic environment that supports new families during times of changing needs. The department comprises a Labor & Delivery/Inpatient Antepartum Suite and a Mother‑Baby Couplet Postpartum Unit, and collaborates closely with a Level IV NICU. Our diverse patient population includes both medically complex and uncomplicated mothers and infants.

Key Responsibilities- Provide lactation assessment, management, education, and instruction to all inpatient lactating women and community‑based outpatients.
- Conduct consultations, offer rental or sale of lactation equipment and supplies, perform telephone triage, and deliver prenatal education as appropriate.
- Create an environment that fosters confidence and adult learning while supporting confidentiality for the mother‑infant dyad and families.
- Practice lactation management, counseling, and patient education in accordance with research‑based evidence, ILCA Standards & Scope of Practice, IBLCE Code of Ethics, and nursing scope and standards.

- BSN or MSN from an accredited School of Nursing.
- IBCLC – International Board Certified Lactation Consultant certification required.
- 2 years of lactation consultant experience; a comparable combination of nursing and lactation consultant experience will be considered. Inpatient, hospital‑based lactation consultant experience preferred.
- Active DC RN License required upon hire.
Hiring Range: USD $41.98 - $75.62 / hr
