Registered Nurse

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse in the Pediatric Step Down unit provides skilled nursing care to medically complex pediatric patients within a pediatric rehabilitation and specialized inpatient care setting. Responsibilities include patient assessment, communication, and potential supervision of CNAs/LPNs/PCAs.

Washington, District of Columbia, United States

Responsibilities:

- Provide skilled nursing care to pediatric patients in a step-down unit.
- Conduct patient assessments and monitor vital signs.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
- Supervise CNAs, LPNs, and PCAs as needed.
- Document patient care accurately and timely in the charting system.
- Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement patient care plans.

Required Skills &

Certifications:

- Active Registered Nurse license.
- BLS/CPR certification.
- 1-2 years of nursing experience.
- Strong assessment and communication skills.

- Experience with medically complex pediatric patients.

Preferred Skills &

Certifications:

- Pediatric experience.
- CPN or pediatric rehabilitation certification.

Special Considerations:

- Floating within scope to similar pediatric rehab/inpatient/SNF units may be required.
- Occasional weekend shifts may be required (facility dependent).
- Must show proof of pending RN license if applicable.

Scheduling:
- 36 guaranteed hours per week.
- Block scheduling may be requested but is not guaranteed.
