Youth Development, Non-Profit / Outreach, Volunteer / Humanitarian
One of the core services CNHED (the Coalition) offers its member organizations is capacity building, aimed at reinforcing the community development sector across the District of Columbia. The Coalition enhances the organizational capacity of its members, who are dedicated to fostering just, equitable, and economically vibrant communities. These members engage in high-impact initiatives such as affordable housing development and preservation, technical assistance for small and minority-owned businesses, workforce development and career readiness programs, financial counseling, and direct support services.
Through this work, they not only combat poverty in low-income neighborhoods but also empower individuals by fostering personal agency, opportunity, and community strength. The VISTA Leader will guide and expand the Coalition's VISTA Strong Communities program by evaluating and refining its infrastructure, tools, and stakeholder relationships. This role will focus on strengthening the program’s capacity and ensuring a successful rollout and implementation with the Coalition's member organizations interested in hosting VISTA members.
- With the completion of six successful years, the Coalition’s VISTA Strong Communities program is now focused on streamlining operations and expanding its offerings. The VISTA Leader will manage and advance this initiative, while also strengthening CNHED’s overall capacity-building efforts.
- This includes ensuring strong systems, policies, and procedures are in place to support the program’s long-term sustainability.
- The VISTA Leader will also work to standardize training, professional development, and support for host sites.
- Ultimately, these efforts are designed to better serve the Coalition's member organizations by enhancing their ability to support low- and moderate-income residents throughout the District of Columbia.
