Position: Monthly Giving and Donor Retention Manager

Monthly Giving and Donor Retention Manager

NRDC is seeking a dedicated professional to develop, implement, and manage strategies to grow, retain, and upgrade NRDC’s donor audience with a focus on Monthly donors within the Digital Advocacy and Fundraising Program’s annual revenue.

This is a full-time, two-year limited term role. The position is part of the bargaining unit represented by The Washington Baltimore News Guild (WBNG / The Newsguild-CWA Local 32035).

Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute multi-channel campaigns and initiatives to acquire new monthly donors, including converting new donors to sustainers and upgrading existing one-time donors to monthly donors.
  • Develop and execute multi-channel strategies to upgrade donor gift amounts, re-engage lapsed donors, and recover sustainers whose payment method has failed.
  • Make phone calls to donors to help them update recurring payment information, thank them for their support at key moments, and more.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Digital Fundraising Manager to test and incorporate sustainer and donor retention strategies into fundraising efforts and planned campaigns.
  • Develop and execute innovative strategies to cultivate and retain donors, including personalized communication, recognition programs, engagement activities, etc.
  • Draft and edit copy for email, SMS, P2P, donation forms, telemarketing, and digital ads.
  • Maintain accurate donor records, track donor interactions, and analyze data to identify trends and opportunities for growth.
  • Work with the Director of Analytics to develop and generate regular reports on donor retention and monthly donor program performance.
  • Collaborate with the marketing, communications, and fundraising teams to ensure cohesive donor engagement strategies.
  • Oversee the budget for monthly donor activities in coordination with the Digital Fundraising Operations Manager.
  • Coordinate with the Member Services team to respond to supporter emails and calls, and update member records in Salesforce.

Qualifications

Minimum Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, marketing, communications, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in donor management, digital fundraising, or a related role within a nonprofit organization.

Skills, Abilities, Competencies

  • Experience in digital fundraising, digital campaigns, and donor cultivation and engagement.
  • Strong digital copywriting and editing skills.
  • Proficiency in donor management software and CRM systems.
  • Ability to analyze data and generate actionable insights.
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to maintain professional relationships with a range of groups.
  • Ability to thrive in a highly collaborative, team-based environment.
  • Ability to travel to NRDC U.S. based offices, approximately 10-15% annually.

Salary is based on a nonprofit scale and is commensurate with skills and experience. The salary range for this position is $82,000 to $90,000. NRDC operates under a hybrid work model.
