The Senior Public Relations Specialist, Social Impact and Education serves as the lead publicist for the Kennedy Center’s Social Impact and Education programs. Reporting to the Director of Non-Classical Public Relations, this role works across the Center to raise the national profile of these signature programs through thoughtful, innovative storytelling; positioning those in Education and Social Impact as thought leaders at the forefront of their fields;

uplifting work in local communities; and advocating for the importance of this work with journalists, influencers, and other media across the country.

Among the key Social Impact programs are the Center’s long-running Millennium Stage programming, Culture Caucus, Social Practice Residencies, Cartography, and Arts Across America.

Within Education, this role will advance the storytelling around institutional Education programs, including Arts Summit, VSA, School and Community Programs, Research and Evaluation, Digital Learning, and ongoing Moonshot Studio activations. This person will also work closely with the other members of the Non-Classical PR team on the season of Performances for Young Audiences.

The Senior Press Representative serves as a primary contact between members of the local and national media and Kennedy Center artists and administrators. She/he must have highly effective communication skills (both verbal and written), and be able to move efficiently and resolve any conflicts in a public, dynamic, fast-paced, high-pressure atmosphere.

As a member of the Kennedy Center Public Relations Office, the Senior Press Representative will assist the other press representatives for Center-wide initiatives, including major festivals, and high-profile events such as the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor and Kennedy Center Honors. She/he will also work closely with the members of her/his respective programming departments, as well as theater managers, the Box Office, development and various other Kennedy Center staff.
