We are seeking a full-time Associate Director with strategic communications experience to join our team. In this position you will be responsible for developing and overseeing effective strategic communications efforts for non-profit, corporate, and political clients. You ll assist senior leadership by developing and executing communications plans, drafting content, and leading the overall project management of client deliverables.
The Day-to-Day Looks Like- Serving as a deputy client lead, managing efforts from ideation to completion; this could include internal and external functions such as reviewing work product, running a meeting, or presenting updates or results
- Proactively developing earned and owned campaign ideas for clients, while also managing staff to successfully contribute and support
- Serving as a strategic partner to senior leadership by monitoring developments in key client issue areas and flagging opportunities for further client engagement
- Independently managing earned media campaigns to develop and distribute compelling messages leveraging the media and event strategies
- Crafting effective messages and overseeing the development of high-quality written deliverables, such as press releases, blog posts, op-eds, social media content, client memos and presentations, often under tight timelines
- Providing input to the creation of editorial calendars to guide a client s communications strategy
- Shepherding efforts across our service teams, coordinating with designers, direct marketers, media planners, and client managers to provide impactful campaigns for our clients
- Participating in business development activities including writing proposals and developing pitch decks to address the needs of potential clients
- Managing other communications team members, providing direction, support, and coaching on their work product
- Actively pursuing mentorship opportunities with junior staff members to proactively support their growth and development on the team and within the company
- 6+ years of public affairs, strategic communications or public relations experience, preferably in a communications agency, nonprofit, political or corporate communications setting
- Exceptional presentation, writing, and analytical skills with a demonstrated ability to write both strategically and creatively under tight timelines
- Comfortable discussing strategy and recommendations in real-time with senior-level audiences
- Proven project management experience, including overseeing a team managing deliverables for multiple clients
- Experience managing and providing clear feedback to team members
- Media relations experience and existing reporter relationships is a plus
- Comfortable handling strategic planning and daily execution of services for clients
- Knowledge of Cision or Meltwater is a plus
