Director of Marketing (Content & Strategy)
We are seeking a senior-level Director of Marketing for a building systems and infrastructure services company. In this role, you’ll take ownership of content strategy and production across multiple markets. Reporting to the Vice President of Marketing, you’ll focus on developing high-impact, omnichannel content that fuels brand visibility, audience engagement, and business growth.
This role partners closely with a peer Director of Marketing who oversees campaign execution and performance reporting. Together, you’ll manage the full marketing lifecycle, from early-stage concept development through delivery, optimization, and measurement.
Location:
This is a hybrid position requiring a minimum of three days per week in a Northern Virginia office. Occasional travel, including overnight trips, is required.
- Lead the strategy, creation, and production of content across digital, print, social, in-person, and other communication channels.
- Develop compelling content that supports the full buyer journey—from brand awareness through sales enablement.
- Write and edit a variety of assets including articles, case studies, direct mail, presentations, web content, videos, emails, service sheets, and social media.
- Translate technical and industry-specific topics into clear, persuasive, and engaging storytelling.
- Manage external freelancers and agency partners while guiding internal contributors to ensure quality, consistency, and timeliness.
- Spend the majority of your time producing content hands-on, with the remainder focused on vendor oversight and project coordination.
- Establish and maintain a cohesive brand voice, ensuring accuracy and adherence to brand standards.
- Build and manage an integrated editorial calendar aligned to business priorities and campaign timelines.
- Collaborate with marketing leadership to evaluate content performance and continuously refine strategy based on insights.
- Support long-range marketing planning and scalable growth initiatives.
- Partner cross-functionally with internal teams and external vendors to ensure smooth execution and strong customer experiences.
- Oversee assigned budgets, including vendor costs, travel, and related expenses.
- 7+ years’ experience in marketing content strategy and creation.
- Experience in B2B professional services industry, specifically Architecture/Engineering/Construction (AEC) or adjacent.
- Proven success creating and optimizing content using SEO/AEO, analytics, and A/B testing.
- Experience directing multimedia production such as video, audio, and interactive content.
- Working knowledge of generative AI tools for writing, editing, and content enhancement.
- Strategic, self-directed mindset with the ability to thrive in fast-moving environments.
- Sound business and financial judgment, including experience managing budgets.
- A collaborative, roll-up-your-sleeves attitude with comfort handling both large initiatives and detailed execution.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Marketing, or equivalent professional experience.
- Familiarity with design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite or Canva
- Experience using marketing project management or workflow platforms.
- Exposure to marketing automation systems
- Background in executive communications, thought leadership, or senior-level content development.
