Director, Marketing

Endocrine Society is the world’s oldest and largest organization of scientists devoted to hormone research and physicians who care for people with hormone‑related conditions. Our inclusive community is made of scientists, physicians, educators, nurses, and students in 122 countries.

The Director, Marketing is responsible for designing and implementing a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy to strengthen the impact of our programs and services, increase revenue, grow our global reach, strengthen our market position, support membership goals and build our global brand awareness. The Director is a creative and analytical leader with demonstrated experience in multi‑channel marketing and collaborates cross‑functionally with other department leaders to ensure alignment with the Society’s strategic objectives.

What

you’ll bring to the job
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business or related field
  • 10+ years of progressive marketing experience, with demonstrated success in a leadership role, preferably with non‑profit or association experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of marketing strategies, concepts, and practices.
  • Ability to plan, implement, and evaluate marketing activities for a wide product line.
  • Ability to compile and analyze performance data to develop metrics that support decision‑making for resources allocation and subsequent campaigns.
  • Proven experience in team leadership, talent development, and influencing cross‑functional teams within a matrix organization.
  • A leader with both creative and analytical capabilities.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to develop strong, collaborative relationships and work effectively with senior management.
  • Outstanding presentation and oral communication skills.
What you’ll own
  • Develop and implement marketing and communication plans aligned with the Society’s strategic objectives.
  • Partner closely with internal teams to ensure the growth of conferences, meetings, exhibits, membership, journals, products and services, and professional development and education opportunities.
  • Drive revenue growth using market research, pricing, product marketing, marketing communications, and advertising.
  • Under the leadership of the CCO, work with cross‑functional teams to design an enterprise‑wide content strategy and implementation plan that integrates with the editorial calendar and promotes our brand and image.
  • Lead the creativity of marketing efforts to develop desirable content marketing roadmaps that yield member and stakeholder engagement.
  • Leverage data and analytics and synthesize patterns to develop the member decision journey.
  • Build brand awareness and ensure consistent messaging and visual identity across all channels and materials.
  • Collaborate with the Membership Engagement team to research member experience and interaction with the organization and drive improvements by connecting member needs and content strategy.
  • Effectively lead the marketing team in designing the right strategies and processes to carry out campaigns in a multichannel environment.
  • Implement measurements in all campaigns to analyze marketing efforts for evaluation of success, make recommendations for increased ROI, and report outcomes to leadership.
  • Develop, manage, and forecast marketing budgets, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and monitoring KPIs and ROI.
  • Identify, select, and manage external agencies, consultants, and vendors to ensure high‑quality, timely, budget‑compliant execution.

  • Ability to make decisions and solve problems involving varied levels of complexity, ambiguity, and risk.
  • Can develop and maintain effective relationships with others to encourage communication and teamwork.
  • Exhibits judgment in leading others to worthwhile objectives and providing role clarity and encouragement.
