Position Overview
The Project Manager, Special Projects—Operations serves as a highly visible project leader responsible for coordinating, tracking, and managing complex, cross-functional initiatives for senior leadership across the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. This role ensures disciplined execution, structured communication, programmatic oversight, and adherence to timelines across multiple strategic bodies of work.
The ideal candidate brings strong program management discipline, business acumen, executive communication skills, structured problem solving, and the ability to work independently with sound judgment. The candidate will support multiple leaders simultaneously and oversee special assignments as organizational priorities shift.
Responsibilities- Lead, track, and manage timelines for priority initiatives across Operations, Policy, and Strategic Projects ensuring that milestones are met and deliverables stay on schedule.
- Serve as the coordination point between internal teams, senior leadership, and external stakeholders.
- Establish structured project frameworks, dashboards, and progress reports to maintain transparency and accountability.
- Anticipate roadblocks and proactively develop mitigation paths.
- Ensure programmatic discipline around scope management, prioritization, staffing, and handoffs.
- Act as a strategic partner and problem solver for senior leaders, providing research, summaries, briefing materials, and decision support tools.
- Draft high-level memos, presentations, and communication updates that reflect leadership priorities.
- Maintain judgment and discretion when handling sensitive information and executive communications.
- Facilitate collaboration between internal teams, including operations, finance, HR, technology, policy, membership, and communications.
- Identify areas to streamline processes or optimize resource allocation.
- Track KPIs and performance indicators to measure progress and effectiveness.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, public policy, economics, analytics, or a related field.
- 5+ years of relevant experience in consulting, strategic operations, program management, or a chief-of-style capacity.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with disciplined prioritization.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including executive-ready presentations.
- Demonstrated experience working cross-functionally and influencing without authority.
- High emotional intelligence, judgment, professionalism, and discretion.
- Advanced competency in Excel, PowerPoint, and project management tools.
- Experience delivering analytical or operational projects in consulting or high-growth environments.
- MBA or relevant graduate degree is preferred.
