Overview
Are you ready to lead impactful educational programming in the heart of Washington, DC? Carnegie Mellon University's Heinz College seeks a decisive and highly organized Senior Academic Coordinator to manage a diverse portfolio of educational programs and policy events. In this role, we want you to build a robust community among students and faculty while ensuring the DC campus operates with peak efficiency.
We are looking for a collaborator who is eager to promote Heinz College as a premier convener on technology and AI policy.
Lead Academic Execution: Manage course scheduling, support faculty, and oversee student fellowship documentation.
Drive Student Engagement: Design and lead co-curricular activities, ranging from industry socials to policy dinners, that maximize the student experience.
Coordinate High-Level Events: Execute a quarterly speaker series and other initiatives focused on the societal impacts of AI.
Direct Office Operations: Manage daily DC office functions, including vendor contracts, financial reporting, and administrative support for leadership.
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact optimally with individuals at all levels.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Highly organized, meticulous, adaptable, able to handle several projects at once, and capable of working both collaboratively within a team and independently to complete assigned tasks promptly.
Dedication to delivering high-quality work with strong attention to detail.
Education: Associate's degree required;
Bachelor's degree preferredExperience: 2-3 years in student affairs, event management, or academic administration.
A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.
Skills: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and social media platforms (Linked In/Instagram). Experience with Canvas or Oracle is a plus.
Attributes: You are a meticulous project manager who communicates effectively and handles multiple complex projects simultaneously.

Additional informationSponsorship: Applicants for this position must be currently legally authorized to work for CMU in the United States. CMU will not sponsor or take over the sponsorship of an employment visa for this opportunity. Work Posture: This position is operating on a hybrid schedule, with an on-campus/in-office presence 4 days a week.

Work Schedule:
Monday-Friday from 8:30 am-5:00 pm. An alternate work schedule allowing for evening and weekend hours will be required on occasion.
In accordance with the pay transparency legislation set forth by D.C., the corresponding salary range for this position, if placed in D.C., ranges between $65,000 - $75,000.
