Job Description - Executive Center Director
- Neurosciences COE Administration (2600005T)
In collaboration with the SVP of the Center, plan, implement, direct and evaluate Center activities for Children's National Medical Center in accordance with accepted national standards and administrative policies. Provide administrative and business leadership for the Center. The Director will have primary responsibility for Center planning, budgeting and operations. Integrate and coordinate the operations of the Center with other centers and other elements of the CNMC enterprise.
QualificationsMinimum Education
- Bachelor's Degree in related field required.
- Master's Degree Business Administration, Hospital Administration, Public Administration or other related field preferred.
Minimum Work Experience
- 10 years progressive related experience.
- Minimum of 7 years supervisory/management experience in related job function.
- Plan, implement, direct and evaluate Center departments/divisions on a strategic and operational level to ensure the organization’s move to Top Tier and Employer of Choice.
- Energize stakeholders and sustain their commitment to change in approach, process and strategy.
- Monitor department/division process and seek opportunities to improve operations.
- Develop a communication strategy and tools to ensure the effective communication of all Center programs to CNMC management and staff.
- Assess and monitor organizational staffing requirements and align Center department/division to effectively and efficiently meet organizational needs.
- Define, set and utilize appropriate performance and quality measures for Center department/division and for individual staff members.
- See oneself as a leader of others, from forming a top team that possesses balanced capabilities to setting the mission, values and norms, as well as to hold the team members accountable individually and as a group for results.
- Establish, build and sustain professional contracts for the purpose of building networks of people with similar goals to support similar interests.
- Demonstrate ethics and professional practices, as well as stimulate social accountability and community stewardship.
- See the potential in and understand the use of administrative and clinical information technology and decision-support tools in process and performance improvement.
- Actively sponsor the utilization and continuous upgrading of information management capabilities.
- Ensure the availability and quality of data to support senior leadership decision-making.
- Independently develop and monitor Center operating and capital budgets.
- Monitor Center performance reports and evaluate budget variances.
- Develop recommendations to facilitate Center meeting budget requirements.
- Consistently utilize cost effective resources.
- Consistently meet or exceed budget and staffing requirements.
- Incorporate budget considerations in all planning and decision making.
- Participate in negotiation of professional and facility use agreements with outside organizations and manage receivables effectively.
- Set and clearly communicate team goals and priorities in alignment with departmental goals and budgets
- Develop the budget and assign resources to meet the team goals
- Provide the resources and guidance required for employees to perform effectively
- Develop procedures to ensure high safety and quality, and course-correct as needed
- Identify customers’ needs and ensure service excellence in meeting those needs
- Be the link between the department and the team in defining the strategies to meet team goals
- Provide prompt and clear feedback to staff and support their performance
- Ensure team adherence to organizational regulations
- Manage the working environment to promote productivity and motivation
- Represent the team in clearing obstacles to high performance
- Hire staff and develop their capabilities
- Monitor and promote strong employee engagement
- Encourage and share new ways of making the right work easier to do
- Recognize and share incremental improvements in operations
- Promote the success of organizational and department initiatives by clearly aligning programs to the mission
