JOB SUMMARY

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) assumes a strategic role in the overall management of the Agency. The position manages strategy, implementation, and day‑to‑day operations of Finance and Technology & Administrative Services departments to ensure each function is aligned with the Agency’s vision, mission, strategy, goals, objectives and policies.

Supervisory Responsibility:
Provides administrative supervision of 2‑3 FTEs and functional supervision over 30‑40 FTEs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

• Serve as a member of the Executive Team for the organization, advising on overall organizational goals, strategy and policies, particularly as they impact functions within the scope of the CFO’s management portfolio.

• Take a leadership role in ensuring cross‑functional coordination and infrastructure development, particularly in the areas of Finance, Information Technology, and Administration through leading and participating in relevant steering committees, working groups, and project management teams.

• Provide ongoing leadership and consultation to these functional teams to drive optimal operational effectiveness, strategic financial decision‑making, robust information technology systems and effective management practices.

• Direct the ongoing improvement of financial processes and planning, including effective forecasting of financial needs and metrics for organizational sustainability.

• Interface with and provide information to the CEO, Board of Directors, and the financial information to the Archdiocese of Washington.

• Interface with and provide primary support to the CCADW Foundation Board and the Finance & Audit Committee of the Board of Directors.

• Provide administrative oversight of the Internal Audit function.

• Serve as the agency’s Compliance Officer and as the chair of the staff Compliance Committee.

• Coordinate risk management activities, including oversight of all litigation. Primary contact with legal counsel for corporate, real estate and program‑related legal matters.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or the equivalent. Master’s in Business Administration degree and CPA certificate preferred.

• 15 years’ experience in progressively responsible financial leadership and operational management roles, preferably in a nonprofit environment.

• 8 years’ experience as a senior finance executive in a strategic leadership role.

• Experience managing and building capacity within organizations.

• Experience interacting with Boards of Directors.

• Experience working with grants and foundations.

• Experience in financing construction and renovation activities is desirable.

SKILLS and COMPETENCIES

• Knowledge of departmental audit and/or compliance policies, practices and procedures.

• Knowledge of various types of contracts, leases, techniques or requirements for contracting or procurement, and contract negotiation and administration.

• Knowledge of principles and practices of non‑profit finance.
