General Cleaner/Janitorial Services - (Part-time) Washington DC - HST Responsibilities

• Perform overall floor and building maintenance of hard surfaces and carpet (dust and wet mopping, stripping, waxing, buffing, shampooing, burnishing, extraction & bonneting).
• Clean offices, corridors, lobbies, entrances, stairwells, public areas, dining rooms, and conference rooms.
• Use protective gear for all appropriate functions and safely mix and use cleaning solutions while adhering to safety precautions.
• Report equipment and cleaning product needs or malfunctions to the supervisor promptly.
• Maintain established standards, safety, and quality guidelines, and follow proper reporting, isolation, and handwashing procedures.
• Collect trash and recycling for proper disposal.
• Additional tasks: empty trash, sweep, clean surfaces, follow department cleaning procedures, assist in cleaning rooms, keep buildings orderly, load/unload dishwashers, clean countertops, coffee and tea equipment, clean catering areas, mopping, dusting, washing floors, vacuuming, cleaning windows, empty and clean all trash receptacles, scrub floors, spot clean carpets, sanitise trash containers, and perform housekeeping duties (vacuuming, sweeping, scrubbing, dust mopping, furniture dusting, replenishing restroom supplies).

The Harry S. Truman building will have nighttime coverage from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM, Monday through Friday.

• Perform a wide variety of duties necessary for day‑to‑day cleaning operations at the Harry S. Truman Building in Washington DC.
• Demonstrate a positive attitude and the ability to follow oral and written instructions, performing routine, repetitive tasks daily.
• After completing all appropriate training, use leadership skills to accomplish all responsibilities without supervision and without injury to self or others.
• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
• Must be able to be at work as scheduled and on time.
• Must be able to lift/carry a maximum of 50 pounds, push/pull a maximum of 50 pounds, stand, sit, bend, and walk for extended periods.
• Must be able to perform routine, repetitive tasks continuously.
• Must be able to work around food and cleaning products.
