Starting Salary Range $132,368 - $ a year with the starting salary determined based on candidate’s knowledge, skills, experience, and education, in addition to budget availability.
Clearance Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance

Scope of WorkThe USAID Office of the General Counsel (OGC) serves as the Agency’s Chief Legal Office, providing advice on legislative, administrative, and program matters. OGC represents USAID in legal matters, including administrative and litigation matters.
Responsibilities- Supports the OGC in providing legal advice to the Agency in administrative and litigation matters.
- Analyzes complex legal issues, assists with litigation preparation, and drafts pleadings, motions and briefs for federal courts, administrative tribunals, and other adjudicative bodies in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and Agency policies.
- Provides support and assistance to attorneys representing USAID in federal and administrative litigation arising under the Contract Disputes Act, the Administrative Procedure Act, the False Claims Act, the Freedom of Information Act, and the Federal Tort Claims Act, among others.
- Drafts pleadings, motions, and briefs.
- Reviews case materials, investigates facts, and gathers relevant documents.
- Provides legal counsel on litigation preparation, risk assessment, and potential courses of action.
- Coordinates with paralegals and other attorneys to prepare case documents and research.
- Verifies legal citations and references, ensuring accuracy and compliance with procedural requirements.
- Communicates effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including interagency partners.
- Performs other legal duties as assigned to support litigation and Agency objectives.
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and admitted to a state bar in good standing; possesses four (4) to eight (8) years of relevant post-bar legal experience.
