Rate: $45.00 to $55.00/hr. w2

Responsibilities
  • Manage the docket of assigned cases and maintain official records and the electronic docket.
  • Receive, compile, and organize information for the preparation of orders and decisions.
  • Monitor case deadlines and assist Hearing Officers with effective docket management, including consulting leadership when action is required.
  • Serve as liaison between parties and Hearing Officers to facilitate resolution of pre-hearing motions and requests.
  • Anticipate and resolve issues that arise during the course of the case.
  • Prepare notices, orders, and correspondence for Hearing Officers.
  • Proofread and cite check draft decisions and orders, verify facts, ensure proper form and service, and circulate final decisions to appropriate departments.
  • Examine pleadings for accuracy and completeness and contact attorneys or parties regarding noncompliance with applicable procedures.
  • Attend pre-hearing conferences and hearings to assist with hearing conduct and evidence management.
  • Compile statistical information and reports as required.
  • Participate in special projects at the request of leadership.
Experience Requirements
  • Paralegal experience (preferred).
  • Litigation or securities-related experience (preferred).
  • Strong writing and research skills with experience using legal research databases and cite-checking.
  • Strong planning and organization skills with excellent interpersonal and written communication.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft software applications.
  • Knowledge of SEC and FINRA Rules (helpful).
  • Ability to work in person in Washington, DC with occasional travel and extended hours as needed.
Education Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Paralegal certificate required.
