Conflicts Staff Attorney – Lateral Focus (Hybrid)
About the RoleA leading global law firm is seeking a Conflicts Staff Attorney to join its Lateral Conflicts function
, supporting the review and resolution of conflicts of interest related to lateral attorney hires and select new business matters
.
This is a non–associate-track attorney role designed for experienced conflicts professionals who enjoy analytical work, collaboration with firm leadership, and a predictable schedule.
The position is based in Chicago or Washington, D.C. and follows a hybrid work model with an onsite onboarding period.
What You’ll Do- Analyze conflicts reports related to lateral hires and new matters
- Evaluate search results prepared by conflicts analysts to identify potential conflicts of interest
- Draft clear, practical conflicts summaries for attorneys and firm leadership
- Partner with lawyers and conflicts leadership to resolve issues, implement screens, and support waiver processes
- Review conflicts questionnaires submitted by lateral candidates and follow up as needed
- Support the lateral onboarding process from a conflicts and compliance perspective
- Prepare engagement-related documentation, including waivers and screening memoranda
- Track and manage multiple conflicts reviews in a deadline-driven environment
- Contribute to ongoing improvements in conflicts workflows, systems, and processes
- Juris Doctor (JD) required
- Active bar admission in a U.S. jurisdiction; must be in good standing
- 2–4 years of conflicts clearance experience in a law firm environment strongly preferred
- Candidates from smaller firms or compliance / ethics roles in regulated industries (banking, insurance, etc.) will also be considered
- Candidates may hold titles such as Conflicts Analyst or similar, provided they have earned a JD
- Experience with conflicts databases or intake systems (e.g., Intapp or similar tools)
- Strong analytical judgment and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities under time pressure
- Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills
- High degree of discretion and confidentiality
- Collaborative, service-oriented mindset
- Full-time, exempt role (Monday–Friday, standard business hours)
- Expectation of being onsite for approximately the first 90 days for training and onboarding
- Thereafter, a minimum of two days per week onsite
- This role is not fully remote
- Relocation assistance is not provided

- Base salary range: $160,000 – $185,000
